BENEFITS OF TRUE INDEPENDENCE

Your Choice

Having more than one option for your clients is certainly a benefit but more importantly we believe that the real power is in the choice for yourself. Working with several carrier partners will allow you to grow the type of agency that you want rather than the one a captive company tells you to grow. The world becomes your oyster when you go independent.

Flexibility

Starting a new agency can be very time consuming but eventually your efforts will pay off if the business is self-sustaining. Picture yourself working the amount of time that you want rather than the amount of time that’s required of you. More time to share with your family and loved ones while doing the things you want to do is the reward of independence.

Your Legacy

Whatever you choose to build can be passed down as your legacy. How do you want to be remembered and what impact do you want your agency to make when you’re done?

Your Destiny

Building what you want also gives you the control to build the lifestyle that you want for yourself and your family. Nobody can hold you back from reaching your goals.

Freedom

Nobody wants to feel like they are captive to someone else’s control. Going independent gives you the freedom you deserve as a business owner.

Former Farmers Agent

I have been very pleased with the decision to go this route and my business has grown tremendously! I said a few years ago that I would never be a scratch agent, but here I am and I’m so happy!

MEMBER BENEFITS

Carrier Appointments

We work with each agent to make sure they get appointed with the carriers they need to be successful. Appointments are provided through a sub-code that gives you binding authority and a direct relationship with the carrier.

Training & Development

We train you on the operating systems, appetites of the carriers and their websites. Additional development is offered for agents that desire to learn complex commercial, life insurance and financial services. This development is performed through one-on-one training while the member is writing business and earning money.

Higher Commissions

More volume as a group means higher commissions for both of us.

Data & Analytics

Every member receives the Agency Dashboard (Power BI) to help them understand the details about the overall health of their agency. We empower our members with the data that can help them manage their business to perform at its highest potential.

Policy Downloading

We download the policy from Ivans for you. We then upload it into the client management system so that it’s there when you need to service your clients.

Commissions Reconciliations

Commissions are paid to Pacific Crest Services by the carriers. We reconcile them by accounting for any chargebacks, MVR or CLUE report fees that your agency accrued during the pay period. Commissions are paid on the 5th and the 20th of each month.

Compliance

Carriers want agents to maintain a compliant book of business. We regularly audit member books and notify them of any potential threats that could harm their carrier relationship or become a future Errors & Omission claim. We are looking out for your best interest.

TOOLS

HawkSoft - Client Management System

There are several client management systems on the market today. We have chosen HawkSoft because of its capabilities to organize and track information efficiently while keeping costs economical for our agents. HawkSoft is hosted on a virtual server and all data is accessible 24/7 to both the agent and Pacific Crest Services.

EZLynx - Comparative Rating Software

One of the largest learning curves for agents is the process of quoting while comparing several carriers. EZlynx simplifies the task of quoting and comparing rates by collecting the data from each carrier and compiling it into one centralized location. After the agent has chosen a quote, it is easy to bridge to the carrier website where the policy can then be bound. EZLynx is one of the most commonly used rating software platforms in the country and they work with almost all Personal Lines carriers.

Microsoft Power BI - Agency Dashboard

Pacific Crest Services is proud to boast a proprietary business intelligence tool, the Agency Dashboard. This Dashboard provides our agents real time data on their agency and producers. Our agents have the ability to access their entire book of business at the click of a button, in one frame of view. Having this capability allows agents to focus on the health of their agency from anywhere at anytime without running reports through the Client Management System or going to each carrier site for their specific data. Production, retention, loss ratio, opportunities and Income reports can help an agent determine where to focus their time, energy and resources on a daily basis.

FAQ's

Book Ownership

Members own their book of business and have complete control of their destiny.

Timeline to Receive Carrier Appointments

Members usually start to receive their first carrier appointments by the end of the first or second week after contracting. This timeline can depend heavily on the member’s availability during the on-boarding process and how quickly carriers are to respond to applications. Some things are out of our control; however, you can rest assured our staff is working diligently to expedite your appointments.

Commission Timeline

Members are paid in the same manner as the carrier pays Pacific Crest Services. Most P&C commissions are paid in whole. Members can expect to be paid their commissions on the 5th and the 20th of each month and the amount of time they can expect to wait is 30-45 days from the date the policy goes into effect.

Additional Fees

  • $4.50 Payroll fee per payroll period

  • MVR & CLUE report fees are reconciled against any commissions owed to members

Additional Staff

Pacific Crest Services charges $150 per licensed staff member per month. This cost is associated to the seats the staff member will need in HawkSoft and EZlynx. These systems will not allow agents to share logins.

Other States

Pacific Crest Services is licensed in 34 states. We encourage agents to write in multiple states if they are properly licensed to do so.

A HEALTHY AGENCY EXAMPLE

P&C Book Mix

Members are encouraged to write a strong amount of commercial lines. The complex nature of the product makes it less of a commodity than personal lines and clients are less rate sensitive.

Commercial risks often carry higher premiums than personal lines and can pay higher commissions. Agencies with at least 30% or more commercial mix have a far better bottom line.

Life Insurance & Benefits Products

Building a well-rounded agency is very important and the more complex the product lines are the better the retention of your clients will be.

Pacific Crest Services offers a variety of ancillary products and carriers to their members and encourages agents to offer these products to their clients as much as possible and aim for at least 20% cross sold or more.

The compensation on these products can be very high and can make a very large impact to the strength of your bottom line.

Agency Growth

A healthy agency should grow at least $500K per year for the first 3 to 5 years. This model of growth will create a stable income stream while generating enough profitable premium to sustain a healthy relationship with your carrier partners. The right mix of business and choosing the right clients to write should prevent a high rate of attrition.
